District Nails

I love this nail salon. I’ve been coming here for 3 years and it’s an H st neighborhood staple. The employees are so nice and I always get compliments on my nails. I get dip manicures every 2-3 weeks and spa pedicures every couple months. The spa pedicure is so worth the extra money if you have time. It’s such a relaxing experience and they take their time doing everything. For my manicures sometimes I get designs or chrome and they do a great job. You must make an appointment! This place is busy but if you have an appointment which you can make online you almost never have to wait more than a few minutes.

I have gone to district for pedicures with my other friend who waitresses and the spa packages are a FANTASTIC deal. Wait time can be a little long which is why I removed a star but what I really want to talk about is my latest experience with acrylic nails here. I was honestly super nervous because the reviews I had seen were…not the best looking nails. I sat with Nancy and she ASSURED me that I could trust her. I admit I was trying to nitpick at the start but eventually I stopped because she did the most beautiful job SO QUICKLY!! She shaped my nails in the blink of an eye and laid the dip on perfectly. I could not stop staring at my nails for this festival, Im serious. Also, for my ladies who go there I think the dip color was 113?? I’m definitely going back to Nancy whenever I want to feel extra extra good with my nails. EDIT: I added more photos from my recent visit with Nancy! Like I said before, I think the negative reviews are from people who went in blind. There definitely can be long wait times for pedicures but I don’t mind that because it’s so affordable and the people are very nice. I think it’s sooo dependent on who takes care of you. Everyone is nice, not everyone is equally skilled. Nancy gets the job done perfectly in 45 mins.

I highly recommend District Nails and specifically Linda. She does an excellent job not only with my manicure & pedicure but also with waxing! I live far away but I make a special trip to DC just to get service from Linda! She is very professional, very careful, attentive and very thorough. I am glad I found her! I definitely give her 5 stars because she truly deserves it! Thank you Linda. See you soon.

Total rip off. They make the prices up as they go along. You come in the day before to make an appointment and show them what you want (basically the same you have had for the last 20 years). They give you a price and the next day it is (after it is done). Oh that was extra etc etc.. Plus you ask for the same you have new just a renewal of exactly the same thing (French manicure style) they finish it you say how about the white tip they say oh you wanted that? Duh yeah that was what was on there? Besides they only talk to each other in their own language (I speak 6 but not theirs) they never speak or make conversation with the client. Expensive, not well done, they do not listen to the client (their needs) and then they overcharge...I live in the neighborhood but surely will never go back. When I made the appointment the lady said I will do it tomorrow I know exactly what you want. I had somebody else (although the lady was there) you did know what he was doing but when I said it looked weird (because it did) he seemed upset. I travel all over the world have my nails done everywhere but have never had this.

This nail salon is fantastic, I can’t say enough good things. I’ve been going to District Nails for 2 years now, and the customer service cannot be beat. I usually do gel manicures about every two weeks and a pedicure here and there. I also just recently tried a dip manicure for the first time - all the services I’ve tried have been absolutely superb. I cannot recommend this place more highly!

I had been going to District Nails religiously, every 2 - 3 weeks for over a year and half. They had the best choice of colors and were always accommodating to find a time that worked for my preferred nail tech/artist. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business anymore as they have "blocked" me from making further appointments after my nail tech decided to find another position at a different salon. I was going to stay with District Nails and find another person within their establishment for my regular appointments, but blocking me because my tech no longer works there makes zero sense. They didn't only block me but all her other clients, plus another employee's clients who also decided to leave. Loyalty doesn't mean much here and I was not given the opportunity to find another artist to work with. I have never been blocked by a local business I fully supported for this long and wish they would change their ways to keep clients returning.

Let me begin by saying two things: I think it all depends on who you get as a nail tech here. The first time I went was a great experience, but the second experience will be my last. The second thing- I have only ever felt the need to write one other review on Google in my life, a positive one. I came in with dip nails with extensions and my nails were finally at the length I wanted under the extensions to go naturally. I asked for dip powder. The nail tech did not ask me the length I wanted, but I told her I would like to keep my natural nails underneath the same length. She immediately cut off a significant amount of length, ruining all of the progress I had from growing my nails for the past several weeks. She was extremely rough with my hands and was in a rush the entire time. When she was using the buffing tool around my nails, I was cut on two fingers. I winced, and she chuckled and asked if I was okay. I thought she might go more gently moving forward but it continued. Later, she put a gel product on my nails that caused the cuts to sting significantly. I winced again, and she said it was normal to feel some stinging. I have been getting my nails done for 10 years and have never had that kind of pain. Again, she used nail polish remover at the end, paying no mind or attention to the cuts on my fingers, causing them to burn and sting again. The entire experience felt hostile and rushed, and I left on the verge of tears. I was very excited the first time I came here, but I will never return after the careless and terrible experience I had today. I know people make mistakes, but the response I received when I was bleeding was enough to never return.
